President Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration of the extensively renovated Culture Center in the city of Khankendi on May 28.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, briefed the head of state on the restoration efforts undertaken at the site.
The Culture Center building in Khankendi was originally constructed in the 1960s and 1970s. Over decades of use, the structure had suffered significant wear, deformation, and damage to its load-bearing elements, necessitating a comprehensive reconstruction.
Following the extensive renovation, the facility is now equipped to host a wide range of cultural and public events, including film screenings, theatrical performances, creative workshops, and administrative functions. The three-story building features an auditorium and cinema hall, a multifunctional zone for various clubs, dressing rooms, a cafeteria, a ticket office, and a souvenir shop. The center’s 348-seat hall is designed to accommodate concerts, performances, film screenings, presentations, and official meetings.
The revitalized center is expected to play a pivotal role in enriching the cultural life of Khankendi, which is seeing a growing population, including a rising number of students. It will serve as a primary venue for major public gatherings in the city.
Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani government places significant emphasis on the restoration of cultural monuments in the liberated territories. This commitment underscores the state's dedication to preserving its rich cultural heritage while showcasing the scale of the ongoing reconstruction and development projects across the region.
