President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to the Governor General of Canada, Mary Simon, on the occasion of Canada Day.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the message reads:
"Dear Governor General,
On the occasion of Canada Day, I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to you and your people on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan.
I believe that the relations between Azerbaijan and Canada will continue to develop in the spirit of mutual respect, friendship, and cooperation in line with the interests of our peoples.
On this festive day, I wish you good health, happiness, and success in your endeavors, and prosperity and well-being to your people."
Canada Day, celebrated annually on July 1, marks the anniversary of the Constitution Act of 1867, which united the three separate colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire. Azerbaijan and Canada maintain diplomatic relations, with both nations engaging in various international forums to discuss bilateral cooperation and global issues.
