The "Belt and Road" initiative, launched under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, receives full support from Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev stated.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks while receiving a delegation led by Ying Yong, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China.
"We demonstrate this not only through statements but through practical steps. Today, connectivity between Central Asia, Azerbaijan, and China is a crucial factor for global cooperation and security," President Ilham Aliyev said. "Last month, I paid state visits to two Central Asian countries. Next month, I will visit a third, and naturally, connectivity is a key part of our discussions. China is a primary player here in terms of cargo volume."
The President further noted the growing interest from Chinese companies in operating within Azerbaijan. "We are very pleased to see the great interest from Chinese companies in operating in Azerbaijan. Since April, there has been uninterrupted mutual travel between our countries. Chinese companies are actively participating in projects in Azerbaijan as both investors and contractors. Many important projects have already been implemented, while many others are currently in the execution phase," he added.
The "Belt and Road" initiative, launched by China in 2013, is a massive global infrastructure development strategy aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and embracing a brighter economic future. Azerbaijan has positioned itself as a key transit hub along the Middle Corridor, a vital trade route connecting Asia and Europe, which aligns strategically with China's infrastructure goals.
