President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masud Pezeshkian has made significant statements during a telephone conversation with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Pezeshkian emphasized Tehran's welcome of any initiative that would help strengthen peace and prevent wars in the region.
The President noted that Iran is ready for any process aimed at ending conflicts within the framework of international law, with full respect for the rights of nations and countries. According to him, the main goal is to ensure that all people live together in conditions of peace and tranquility.
In turn, Mohammed bin Salman stated that any aggression or threat against Iran is unacceptable. He pointed out that Saudi Arabia is ready for all kinds of cooperation with Iran to establish lasting peace and security in the Middle East.
These statements coincide with a period of increased military activity by the United States in the region. Notably, on January 23, US President Donald Trump announced that the US is sending additional forces, including warships, to the region and is seriously considering the option of using force against Iran.
The diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Riyadh marks a significant shift in Middle Eastern geopolitics, following the restoration of ties between the two nations in 2023. This dialogue is seen as a critical step toward de-escalating long-standing regional rivalries and fostering a collective security framework in the Persian Gulf. As major energy producers, the stability of the relationship between Iran and Saudi Arabia remains a vital factor for global economic security and the steady flow of international maritime trade.
