Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to urge US President Donald Trump to demand that Tehran cease its missile program development and end support for its regional proxies during their upcoming meeting.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing sources from the Washington Post, that the Israeli leadership is intensifying its diplomatic efforts to align Washington's policy with its own security priorities regarding the Islamic Republic.

According to the report, Israel is also seeking a total halt to uranium enrichment and the removal of existing stockpiles from Iranian territory. These proposals were reportedly discussed during a visit to Israel by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner prior to their participation in negotiations between the United States and Iran held in Oman. Netanyahu intends to convey his position directly to US President Donald Trump to ensure a unified front against Tehran's nuclear ambitions.

While US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other administration officials have indicated that these demands are part of Washington's negotiating framework, US President Donald Trump has primarily emphasized that his core objective is preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. This distinction has created a sense of "cautious optimism" in Tehran regarding the possibility of a reachable agreement. However, Iranian authorities maintain that they have no intention of developing nuclear weapons and refuse to negotiate on limiting their defense capabilities or foreign policy influence.

European political sources with ties to Iran told the Washington Post that Tehran views a new confrontation with Washington as nearly inevitable. They suggested that the current talks in Muscat may only serve to delay potential US military action. On February 6, a new round of negotiations took place in Oman to address the crisis surrounding Iran's nuclear program, led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US envoy Steve Witkoff. The White House has previously stated that it is seriously considering the possibility of using force against the Islamic Republic if diplomatic efforts fail.

The relationship between Israel and Iran remains the primary driver of geopolitical instability in the Middle East. For decades, Azerbaijan has maintained a balanced foreign policy, advocating for regional stability and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. As a neighbor to Iran and a strategic partner to both the United States and Israel, Azerbaijan closely monitors these diplomatic developments, emphasizing the importance of international law and regional security in the South Caucasus and beyond.
