Iran prioritizes dialogue and regional stability to resolve conflicts in the region, but maintains all options on the table to protect its national interests.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that these remarks were made by Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani during a press briefing regarding the current geopolitical situation.
"We hear the drums of war in the foreign press under the threat of conflict. Of course, this is not the first time we have faced such threats. We were already aware of being in a multi-stage war previously. Our priority is to resolve problems through diplomatic means. However, other options remain on our agenda. We are fully prepared for war. As the President noted, we mourn everyone who has lost their life. The death of more than 3,000 people is not a small number; we are talking about human lives. We also do not forget that our security forces were brutally killed. These difficult days are not foreign to us. We believe we must emerge from this process by establishing a dialogue with the people and recognizing their legitimate protests," she noted.
Mohajerani stated that the government is taking a different approach to protests and has held meetings with leaders of peaceful actions, noting that officials who took a harsh stance against students in some universities have been dismissed.
The spokesperson further added that investigations into the protests and instances of violence are ongoing, with official reports expected to be published in the coming days. This statement comes at a time of heightened regional tensions, where Iran's military readiness and internal stability remain focal points for international observers. The Iranian government continues to balance its domestic policy with a firm foreign policy stance, particularly in relation to its strategic interests in the Middle East and its interactions with Western powers, including the administration of US President Donald Trump.
