The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has adopted, in the third reading, a bill introducing significant amendments to the Housing Code, as well as the laws "On the status of refugees and internally displaced persons (internally displaced persons)" and "On the social protection of internally displaced persons and persons equated to them."
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the draft law was submitted for discussion during today's extraordinary session of the parliament. Following comprehensive deliberations, the legislative package was put to a vote and successfully passed in its final reading.
These legislative updates are part of the broader state policy of Azerbaijan aimed at improving the living standards and social welfare of citizens who were displaced due to the conflict in the Garabagh region. The Azerbaijani government has consistently prioritized the "Great Return" program, which focuses on the restoration of liberated territories and the sustainable resettlement of former internally displaced persons to their ancestral lands, ensuring they receive comprehensive state support during this transition.
