The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, has addressed reports regarding the potential targeting of US military bases in Europe in the event of a new attack on Iran. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, these concerns have been widely discussed in international media.
Baghaei stated that Tehran reserves the right to target the source and origin of any aggression against its territory. He emphasized that while Iran has no conflict with the people of any nation, the situation differs for countries that facilitate US and Israeli military operations against Iran.
"There is no reason for any country to be concerned about us. However, the situation is different for countries that open their bases, facilities, and equipment for the implementation of the illegal acts of aggressors," Baghaei emphasized. The spokesperson specifically criticized Bulgaria for its alleged support of US and Israeli military actions against Iran, labeling such cooperation as contrary to international law. He also noted reports regarding the departure of US KC-135 refueling aircraft from Bulgaria.
Baghaei reiterated that Iran will make no concessions regarding the defense of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Furthermore, he condemned US economic pressure on Tehran, characterizing Washington's policies toward the Iranian people as "open economic terrorism." Addressing potential maritime blockades, the spokesperson warned that countries supporting such aggressive US policies could face serious consequences.
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Baghaei dismissed claims by US officials concerning daily oil transit volumes of 5-17 million barrels, describing these figures as part of a psychological and media war. He also noted that an Omani delegation is expected to visit Tehran to discuss bilateral relations, maritime security, and shipping routes.
On the regional front, Baghaei described the recent visit of the Pakistani Army Chief to Tehran as a reflection of the "special and developing relations" between the two nations, noting that Iran-Pakistan ties are currently at a high point. He also condemned Israeli strikes on Syria, stating that any violation of Syria's territorial integrity is a breach of international law and affirming Syria's right to self-defense.
