It is no secret that in leading nations worldwide, the development of AI is progressing faster than anticipated, creating both new opportunities and emerging threats.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva made these remarks on June 29 during the inaugural meeting of the Digital Development Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The First Vice President emphasized the necessity of being prepared for new challenges, particularly the risks emerging in the fields of cybersecurity and information security:
"Our activities require the active and efficient cooperation of all state institutions. Our goal is to transform Azerbaijan into one of the region's leading nations in the fields of digital development and artificial intelligence. We must study international experience and utilize successful models. However, all decisions must be based on factors that align with the national interests and needs of Azerbaijan."
The Digital Development Council serves as a strategic platform aimed at coordinating the country's digital transformation agenda. By integrating advanced technologies like AI into governance and infrastructure, Azerbaijan seeks to enhance its national security framework while fostering a robust digital economy, ensuring that technological progress remains aligned with the country's sovereign development goals.
