The Ministry of Emergency Situations (FHN) of Azerbaijan has issued an urgent appeal to the public following forecasts of severe weather conditions across the country. According to the National Hydrometeorology Service, intense precipitation, thunderstorms, and potential flash floods in several mountain rivers are expected in the coming days. Additionally, rising temperatures and strengthening western winds have increased the risk of avalanches in high-altitude mountainous regions.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ministry has urged citizens to strictly adhere to safety protocols to mitigate risks associated with the unstable weather. To stay safe from flash floods, the FHN advises residents to avoid flood-prone areas and immediately seek higher ground if a threat arises. During thunderstorms, the Ministry recommends disconnecting electrical appliances, avoiding the use of telephones, and staying away from power lines, lightning rods, and tall trees. Drivers are advised to stop their vehicles, roll up windows, and wait for the storm to pass.

In Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations is the central executive body responsible for protecting the population from natural and man-made disasters. Given the country's diverse topography, which includes the Greater and Lesser Caucasus ranges, seasonal weather shifts often necessitate such public safety directives. The Ministry emphasized that ignoring these safety rules poses a direct threat to life and reminded citizens to dial the "112" hotline immediately in case of any emergency or life-threatening situation.
