Manchester United has identified a new candidate to strengthen its goalkeeping position as the club looks to bolster its squad depth.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the "Red Devils" are interested in acquiring Angus Gunn, the goalkeeper for the Scotland national team and Nottingham Forest.
Reports indicate that the 30-year-old goalkeeper's contract with Nottingham Forest is set to expire at the end of the current month. Consequently, he will be eligible to join any club as a free agent, making him an attractive option for teams looking to add experience without a transfer fee.
Citing reports from The Sun, Manchester United management is reportedly planning to recruit the Scottish goalkeeper as a backup option. Throughout his career, Gunn has played for several notable clubs, including Manchester City, Norwich City, Southampton, and Stoke City.
Although Gunn made only one appearance in the English Premier League for Nottingham Forest last season, he has remained a key figure for the Scotland national team. He notably served as a primary squad member during the 2026 World Cup, where he participated in all of Scotland's group stage matches, conceding a total of four goals across those fixtures.
Manchester United, one of the most successful clubs in English football history, frequently evaluates the transfer market to maintain competitive standards across all positions. The potential addition of an experienced goalkeeper like Gunn aligns with the club's strategy to ensure depth in the squad as they compete in domestic and international tournaments.
