Weather warnings issued for wind across Azerbaijan

The National Hydrometeorological Service has issued yellow and orange weather warnings regarding strong winds expected across Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several other regions of Azerbaijan on July 30-31.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the meteorological conditions are expected to impact a wide range of areas.

In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, a yellow warning has been issued for north-westerly winds. Similar yellow warnings are in effect for Gobustan, Hajigabul, Shirvan, Salyan, Neftchala, Lankaran, Astara, Masalli, Lerik, Yardimli, Jalilabad, Bilasuvar, Saatli, Sabirabad, Imishli, Beylagan, Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Siyazan, Shabran, Khachmaz, Guba, Gusar, Khizi, Mingachevir, Yevlakh, Goranboy, Dashkasan, Naftalan, Ganja, Goygol, Barda, Tartar, Tovuz, Aghstafa, Gadabay, Gazakh, Shamkir, Samux, and Shaki. In these areas, south-easterly winds are expected to reach speeds of 13.9-20.7 meters per second.

Furthermore, an orange warning has been issued for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, where south-easterly winds are forecast to intensify, reaching speeds of 20.8-28.4 meters per second.

Weather warnings are standard procedures implemented by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources to ensure public safety. These alerts are categorized by color to indicate the severity of potential weather events, allowing citizens and relevant authorities to take necessary precautions against potential damage to infrastructure, power lines, and agricultural assets caused by high-velocity winds.
