North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has praised soldiers who reportedly carried out "suicide attacks" during combat operations in Russia's Kursk region, labeling them as heroes. According to reports from Bloomberg cited by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the leader made these remarks during the opening ceremony of a memorial dedicated to North Korean personnel who participated in the conflict.
During his address, the head of state emphasized that these soldiers chose self-sacrifice to protect "great honor" without hesitation. He noted that despite their "unparalleled bravery," the personnel sought no material compensation for their actions. Kim Jong Un had previously described the operations in the Kursk region as a unique example of military cooperation between Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
The deployment of North Korean troops to support Russian forces has drawn significant international attention, marking a deepening of military ties between Moscow and Pyongyang. This cooperation follows the signing of a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between the two nations, which includes a mutual defense clause. The establishment of the memorial museum is intended to immortalize the service of the fallen soldiers and serve as a symbol of the growing bilateral alliance.
