Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional security.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) told Operative Information Center-OMM that during the conversation, Jeyhun Bayramov strongly condemned the terrorist act that occurred at a mosque in Islamabad. The minister expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Pakistan, emphasizing that Azerbaijan consistently stands by Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. According to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov conveyed these condolences on behalf of the President, government, and people of Azerbaijan.
The two ministers also exchanged views on various aspects of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan partnership, focusing on the implementation of existing agreements and the current regional security situation. Mohammad Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering stance against the threat of terrorism and expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's solidarity. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to the strategic partnership and fraternal relations existing between the two nations.
Azerbaijan and Pakistan maintain a high level of strategic cooperation, characterized by mutual support on international platforms and deep-rooted historical ties. Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan's independence in 1991 and has consistently supported Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. This latest high-level contact underscores the importance both Baku and Islamabad place on maintaining regional stability and strengthening their multifaceted diplomatic and security alliance.
