Seven individuals linked to opposition networks have been detained in Iran's northern Semnan province, according to reports from local authorities.
The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Tasnim news agency, reported that the accused were allegedly in contact with opposition media outlets to conduct activities deemed contrary to security and public order. The detainees are specifically accused of transmitting the geographic coordinates of strategic sites to these entities.
This crackdown comes amid heightened security measures within Iran as the government continues to monitor and suppress internal dissent and activities perceived as threats to national stability. Semnan province, located east of Tehran, is home to several sensitive industrial and military installations, making the allegations of sharing strategic coordinates particularly significant for the regional security apparatus.
