Iran has officially announced the commencement of legal proceedings regarding a drone attack on the vessel "Anna" in the Caspian Sea, near the Russian city of Astrakhan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the announcement was made by Iran's Consul General in Astrakhan, Ahmad Heydarian. The diplomat characterized the incident as an act of aggression that violates international legal norms, emphasizing that Tehran strongly condemns the attack and will not allow the incident to go unanswered.
Heydarian stated that allegations have been raised suggesting Ukrainian involvement in the attack, and relevant legal procedures are currently underway to address these claims. Iranian authorities have committed to investigating all details of the incident and pursuing accountability for those responsible within the framework of international law.
Tehran has further emphasized that such incidents in the Caspian Sea negatively impact regional security, underscoring the critical necessity of ensuring the safety of maritime navigation in international waters. The Caspian Sea, a vital geopolitical and economic corridor, remains a focal point for regional stability, and security threats in these waters are viewed with significant concern by littoral states.
