The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared that the United States lacks the authority to dictate the course or outcomes of conflicts in the region. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson criticized Washington's attempts to manage regional hostilities during a weekly press conference in Tehran.
The spokesperson stated that the United States is trapped in a crisis of its own making, emphasizing that Iran prioritizes its national interests above all else. "We will not allow the US to determine the timing of war and peace. Decisions regarding our country's security are made within specific frameworks, and we will defend ourselves for as long as necessary," the Iranian official asserted.
Tensions in the region escalated following military operations initiated by the US and Israel on February 28. Following a period of resistance, both sides reportedly agreed to a ceasefire on April 8, ending 40 days of intense confrontation. On June 17, with Pakistan acting as a mediator, Tehran and Washington signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at halting hostilities and continuing diplomatic negotiations. However, Tehran has since accused Washington of violating the terms of this agreement, leading to retaliatory measures by Iran. The situation remains volatile as the international community awaits further developments regarding the stability of the region.
