The Iranian government has responded to statements by US President Donald Trump regarding potential negotiations with Tehran, dismissing the remarks as attempts to influence public sentiment.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated that the country's decision-making process remains robust and unified. Referring to US President Donald Trump's social media posts, she noted that these statements appear designed to "create confusion and manipulate public opinion" rather than signal genuine diplomatic intent.
Mohajerani emphasized that all strategic decisions in Iran are made based on national interests through established state institutions, with full coordination among government branches. She further clarified that the President, in his capacity as the head of the Supreme National Security Council, is fully informed and involved in all aspects of the process.
Relations between Washington and Tehran have remained complex following the US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2018. While US President Donald Trump has expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue, Iranian officials have frequently maintained that any diplomatic progress would require a shift in the current sanctions policy and respect for international agreements. The Supreme National Security Council continues to serve as the primary body for shaping Iran's foreign policy and national security agenda.
