Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has condemned recent US actions against Indian commercial vessels, characterizing them as acts of "state piracy."

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Baghaei emphasized that these actions represent a clear example of Washington's policy of armed robbery and disregard for international law.

Baghaei extended his condolences to the families and loved ones of the Indian sailors who reportedly perished as a result of the attacks. The Iranian official has called upon the international community to take decisive action against these unlawful activities by the United States.

According to the spokesperson, such measures by the US pose a significant threat to global peace and security, as well as to the freedom of navigation in international waters. These incidents have occurred amidst heightened tensions in the region, particularly near the waters of Oman, where US forces have targeted vessels operated by Indian crews.

Reports indicate that the US Central Command allegedly fired two "Hellfire" missiles at the engine room of a tanker identified as the "Jalveer." The US side claims the vessel was transporting Iranian oil. Conversely, Indian officials have confirmed the safety of the 20-member crew, stating that they were successfully evacuated with the assistance of Omani authorities.

The incident highlights the growing volatility in maritime trade routes, where geopolitical rivalries increasingly intersect with commercial shipping operations. The US has frequently cited sanctions enforcement as the basis for its maritime interdiction policies, while regional actors, including Iran, consistently challenge the legality of these unilateral actions under international maritime law.
