İnsan klonlaşdırılması üsulları patentləşdirilməyəcək - RƏSMİ

Methods for human cloning will no longer be recognized as patentable objects in Azerbaijan following new legislative updates.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree amending the "Law on Patents" to establish stricter ethical boundaries in biotechnology and genetic research.

Under the new regulations, several specific areas are excluded from patentability: methods for human cloning and the resulting clones, techniques for modifying the genetic integrity of the human germline, and the use of human embryos for industrial or commercial purposes. These measures aim to align national legislation with international bioethical standards and protect human dignity in the field of scientific innovation.

The Law on Patents in Azerbaijan serves as the primary legal framework for protecting intellectual property and encouraging innovation across various sectors. By introducing these prohibitions, the government ensures that scientific advancements in the Republic of Azerbaijan remain within ethical constraints, preventing the commercialization of sensitive biological processes while continuing to support legitimate medical and technological research.
