President Ilham Aliyev has announced that Baku will host the Turkic World Week in June, describing it as a landmark event for the cultural life of Turkic nations. Speaking at the informal Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Turkistan, Kazakhstan, the President emphasized the significance of the upcoming program in strengthening ties between member nations.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev noted that a high-level dialogue on urban planning within the OTS framework will also be organized in the capital. This initiative is set to take place during the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku. "The Turkic World Week, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, which made a great contribution to the scientific and cultural unity of Turkic peoples, will be held in Baku in June. I am sure that this event will become a significant milestone in the cultural life of our peoples," the head of state said.
The Organization of Turkic States, which has evolved into a major regional platform, continues to prioritize cultural and scientific integration alongside economic and political cooperation. The First Turkological Congress, originally held in Baku in 1926, remains a historical cornerstone for the academic study of Turkic languages and heritage. By hosting these events, Azerbaijan continues to position itself as a central hub for Turkic cooperation and international diplomacy, following its successful leadership in various regional and global initiatives.
