The expansion of the bilateral agenda between Azerbaijan and Iran is a source of satisfaction, President Ilham Aliyev said during a meeting in Baku.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks while receiving a delegation led by Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, who also serves as the co-chair of the Azerbaijan-Iran Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the joint projects currently being implemented by Azerbaijan and Iran will open up broad opportunities for both countries and the wider region. The head of state expressed confidence that all relevant issues would be discussed during Farzaneh Sadegh's visit to Azerbaijan and voiced hope that the visit would yield positive results for bilateral relations.
The economic partnership between Azerbaijan and Iran has historically focused on energy, transportation, and infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on the development of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). This strategic route aims to connect India to Russia and Europe via Iranian and Azerbaijani territories, significantly reducing transit times and costs. Recent cooperation also includes the construction of new bridges and hydroelectric facilities along the shared border, reinforcing the commitment of both nations to regional stability and economic integration.
