Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has arrived in Azerbaijan for an official visit. During the visit, the Turkmen leader held one-on-one and expanded-format meetings with President Ilham Aliyev, with both heads of state subsequently making statements to the press.
Commenting on the visit, Member of Parliament Mushfig Jafarov told the Operative Information Center-OMM that significant steps are being taken to develop multifaceted relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan and to strengthen strategic partnership in the Caspian region.
"The existing fraternal relations between the two countries are built on both political will and the efficiency of joint economic projects," Jafarov stated. He noted that the high-level meetings held during President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's visit have provided new momentum for the development of bilateral ties, resulting in the signing of nearly 20 documents.

The discussions covered a broad spectrum of cooperation, including energy, agriculture, science, education, tourism, culture, and sports. Particular attention was given to the joint development of the "Dostlug" field in the Caspian Sea, the expansion of Trans-Caspian transport routes, and the diversification of energy resources.
Jafarov emphasized that Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan act as strategic partners along the East-West corridor of the Caspian, noting that protecting shared interests and security is of particular importance in the current international climate.
As a gesture of friendship, President Ilham Aliyev presented the Turkmen leader with a "Dostlug" tanker and a Karabakh horse named "Mard." These symbolic gifts underscore the strengthening ties between the two nations. Looking ahead, further expansion of cooperation in energy, logistics, and joint economic projects is expected.

Context: Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan share deep historical and cultural roots, which have evolved into a robust strategic partnership in recent years. The cooperation is centered on the Caspian Sea's vast energy potential and the development of the Middle Corridor, a vital transit route connecting Asia and Europe. The joint development of the "Dostlug" field, agreed upon in 2021, marked a historic milestone in resolving long-standing maritime boundary issues, paving the way for deeper economic integration between the two Caspian littoral states.
