President Ilham Aliyev holds phone call with Shavkat Mirziyoyev

On March 19, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

During the conversation, Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the head of state and the brotherly people of Azerbaijan on the upcoming holy month of Ramadan and the Novruz holiday, extending his best wishes. President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and, in turn, congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the brotherly people of Uzbekistan on the holidays, wishing the country continued prosperity and well-being. The presidents also touched upon the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan strategic alliance, expressing satisfaction with the successful development of relations across all sectors.

The leaders further discussed regional stability, expressing concern over the current situation in the Middle East and emphasizing the importance of resolving tensions through political and diplomatic means. The call concluded with an exchange of views on other matters of mutual interest and future high-level contacts between Baku and Tashkent.

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan share deep historical, cultural, and linguistic ties, which have evolved into a comprehensive strategic partnership in recent years. Both nations actively cooperate within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and have significantly increased bilateral trade turnover and joint investment projects in sectors such as energy, transport, and agriculture.
