President Ilham Aliyev approves health agreement with Latvia

President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree approving the "Agreement between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Latvia on cooperation in the field of healthcare and medical science."

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the decree formalizes the bilateral document signed on December 4, 2025, in Riga.

According to the decree, the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan is tasked with ensuring the implementation of the agreement's provisions once it enters into force. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has been instructed to notify the Government of Latvia regarding the completion of domestic procedures necessary for the agreement to take effect.

This agreement marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties between Baku and Riga, focusing on the exchange of medical expertise, modernizing healthcare infrastructure, and fostering joint scientific research. Azerbaijan and Latvia have maintained a strategic partnership for years, with cooperation expanding across various sectors, including economy, education, and now, enhanced medical collaboration within the framework of international health standards.
