The German government has announced its readiness to contribute to ensuring freedom of navigation and maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Xinhua news agency, Berlin emphasized that any measures taken would be in full compliance with international legal norms and national procedures. The primary objective of the initiative is to safeguard the free flow of trade and protect vessels passing through this critical maritime corridor.

The Strait of Hormuz is recognized as one of the world's most vital maritime chokepoints, situated between Oman and Iran. It serves as the primary route for oil exports from the Persian Gulf, with approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passing through the waterway daily. Ensuring the stability and safety of this passage is considered crucial for global energy security and the stability of international trade routes.
