Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has signed a decree appointing Karen Grigoryan as the country's first ambassador to Pakistan. This historic appointment marks the formal establishment of a diplomatic presence by Yerevan in Islamabad.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Armenian media reports, the decree specifies that Karen Grigoryan, who currently serves as Armenia's ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, will concurrently hold the position of ambassador to Pakistan, with his residence remaining in Abu Dhabi.

It should be noted that Armenia and Pakistan officially established diplomatic relations on August 31, 2025. This development is significant as Pakistan has historically maintained a policy of non-recognition regarding Armenia due to its strong strategic partnership with Azerbaijan. The opening of diplomatic channels reflects shifting geopolitical alignments in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, as nations seek to diversify their international partnerships and influence in the region.
