Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared that Turkiye will take all necessary steps without hesitation to ensure peace in the region and prevent the escalation of war.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state made these remarks during a meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) parliamentary group in Ankara.
Expressing determination to keep his country away from the regional fire, the Turkish leader highlighted the risk of the conflict evolving into a broader regional confrontation. "Retaliatory strikes aimed at energy, transport, and infrastructure facilities ignite internal regional conflicts. If there is even a needle's tip of hope for stopping the bloodshed, silencing the weapons, and resolving problems through diplomacy, it is our duty to evaluate it," Erdogan stated.
Erdogan added that since the beginning of the conflict, Turkiye's principled position has served as the voice of humanity and conscience. "The greatest opportunity for humanity to escape this distressing situation is diplomacy and dialogue. Instead of insisting on maximalist demands, it is necessary to try to reach a common denominator. This is required by both reason and conscience. International law and justice also make this necessary. Our hope is that common sense prevails and a path to peace opens without further bloodshed. We will continue our efforts with all our strength if necessary," he emphasized.
Turkiye has frequently positioned itself as a key mediator in regional conflicts, leveraging its unique geopolitical position between Europe and Asia. As a member of NATO with strong diplomatic ties across the Middle East and Eurasia, Ankara continues to advocate for multilateral solutions and the preservation of territorial integrity in accordance with international norms. This diplomatic stance aligns with the broader regional stability efforts supported by Azerbaijan, Turkiye's strategic ally.
