Major General Amir Hatami, a commander in the Iranian Armed Forces, has declared that the country will seek retribution for the death of former leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing international media reports, the Iranian military leadership has signaled a firm stance regarding the incident.

“Our resolve has only strengthened. The enemies of the Iranian people, specifically the US and Israel, must understand that we will avenge the death of Khamenei and all our martyrs,” General Hatami stated.

It should be recalled that former Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei died on February 28 following an attack attributed to the US and Israel. Currently, a state funeral ceremony is underway in Tehran. Following a week of mourning ceremonies, he is scheduled to be laid to rest in the city of Mashhad on July 9.

The death of Ayatollah Khamenei marks a significant turning point in regional geopolitics, potentially escalating tensions across the Middle East. As Iran prepares for the funeral proceedings, international observers are closely monitoring the rhetoric coming from Tehran, which has historically utilized such events to consolidate domestic support and project military readiness against perceived external threats.
