The detention period for Ali Karimli, chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (AXCP), has been extended.
According to reports, the Sabail District Court issued the decision, citing the necessity of gathering additional evidence related to the ongoing criminal case.
Under the court's ruling, Ali Karimli's detention period has been extended by an additional five months.
It should be noted that Ali Karimli is involved in the criminal investigation concerning Ramiz Mehdiyev, the former head of the Presidential Administration, who is currently under house arrest. Karimli is charged under Article 278.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which pertains to actions aimed at the violent seizure of power or the violent alteration of the constitutional order of the state.
The State Security Service (SSS) is currently conducting extensive preliminary investigations into these criminal proceedings. The SSS plays a critical role in maintaining national security in Azerbaijan, tasked with investigating serious crimes against the state and ensuring the stability of the constitutional order within the country.
