Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with a delegation led by the new Chief Executive Officer of BP, Murray Auchincloss, to discuss the current state and future prospects of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and the global energy giant.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Cabinet of Ministers, that during the meeting, both parties expressed satisfaction with the successful development of the long-term and efficient partnership existing between Azerbaijan and BP.
Confidence was expressed that the mutually beneficial cooperation would further expand and be enriched with new projects during the CEO's tenure. The parties emphasized the critical role of BP's projects in the development of Azerbaijan's energy sector and exchanged views on future perspectives, including decarbonization efforts and renewable energy initiatives.
BP has been a strategic partner of Azerbaijan for over three decades, playing a leading role in the development of the Caspian Sea's hydrocarbon resources. The company is the operator of major projects such as the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) oil field and the Shah Deniz gas field, which are vital to Europe's energy security through the Southern Gas Corridor. In recent years, the partnership has evolved to include a focus on the energy transition, with plans to build solar power plants in liberated territories such as Jabrayil.
