Prime Minister Ali Asadov has held a meeting with Jean Todt, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Cabinet of Ministers reported that the discussion highlighted the successful and expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations across various sectors.

During the meeting, the parties expressed high appreciation for the activities carried out by the UN Special Envoy for Road Safety within his mandate to promote global road traffic safety. Prime Minister Ali Asadov briefed the envoy on the consistent reforms being implemented in Azerbaijan to ensure road safety, develop transport infrastructure in line with modern requirements, and improve the transport system through the application of digital solutions.

The discussions also covered the importance of studying international best practices in road safety, expanding cooperation in this field, and addressing other issues of mutual interest.

The United Nations has long prioritized road safety as a critical component of sustainable development, aiming to halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents. Azerbaijan has actively aligned its national transport strategies with these global initiatives, focusing on infrastructure modernization and the integration of smart traffic management systems to enhance public safety.
