The Main State Traffic Police Department of Azerbaijan has issued an urgent appeal to road users regarding unstable weather conditions currently affecting several regions of the country.
According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the current weather, characterized by strong winds and rain, is expected to continue for the next two days. The department has requested all participants in traffic to exercise extreme caution and strictly adhere to road safety regulations to prevent potential accidents and unpleasant incidents on the highways.
The warning specifically highlighted that owners and drivers of trailers, tented trucks, and long-haul vehicles must be more responsible, as driving in windy conditions is particularly hazardous. Drivers are advised to pay close attention to the packaging and securing of their cargo. Furthermore, in areas where heavy rain is expected, motorists should maintain a safe speed and distance, ensuring that their vehicles' lights and windshield wipers are fully functional.
Pedestrians are also urged not to overlook the adverse weather conditions and to refrain from behaviors that could endanger their lives or the health of other road users. Such seasonal weather warnings are a standard safety measure in Azerbaijan, aimed at reducing the frequency of traffic incidents during periods of low visibility and slippery road surfaces. The Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly monitors road conditions across the country to ensure public safety during periods of inclement weather.
