The United States has not yet provided an official response to Russia's proposal to allocate $1 billion from its frozen assets to the "Board of Peace" for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Russian media, that Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov shared this information during a briefing today.

"Such a proposal was indeed voiced by the Russian President. We have not received a response yet," Peskov stated.

He added that the Board of Peace initiative is being coordinated by the Foreign Minister alongside allies and partners, in accordance with the head of state's instructions. The proposal suggests utilizing a portion of Russian sovereign assets, currently immobilized by Western sanctions, to fund humanitarian and infrastructure recovery in the conflict-torn region.

The White House, under the administration of US President Donald Trump, is reportedly planning to host the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace leaders on February 19 in Washington. The primary focus of the summit will be the consolidation of the ceasefire in Gaza and the mobilization of international funds for large-scale reconstruction efforts.

The Board of Peace is a strategic initiative aimed at establishing a multilateral framework for regional stability and post-conflict recovery. Since taking office in January 2025, US President Donald Trump has emphasized a diplomatic approach to Middle Eastern conflicts, seeking to involve global powers in sustainable peace-building measures. The inclusion of frozen Russian assets in this framework remains a point of significant geopolitical discussion between Washington and Moscow.
