The number of confirmed cases of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has reached 3,748, according to international media reports.

As reported by Operative Information Center-OMM, the death toll from the outbreak has risen to 1,657.

Over the last 24 hours, health authorities recorded 74 new cases and 36 deaths, while 42 patients have recovered and been discharged from medical facilities.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has previously expressed serious concern regarding the ongoing spread of the Ebola virus in the DRC. The organization stated that the increase in infection rates, the expansion of affected areas, and the high mortality rate indicate a rapidly deteriorating public health situation in the country.

Ebola virus disease (EVD) is a severe, often fatal illness in humans. The virus is transmitted to people from wild animals and spreads in the human population through human-to-human transmission. Outbreaks in the DRC have historically presented significant challenges to local healthcare infrastructure, requiring coordinated international responses to contain the spread and provide necessary medical care to affected communities.
