US Vice President James David Vance has emphasized the long-standing and significant strategic cooperation between the United States and Azerbaijan during an official visit to Baku.
"I convey the personal greetings of the US President to you and the people of Azerbaijan," Vance stated during a joint press conference following a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the Vice President highlighted the depth of bilateral relations, particularly in the realm of security and regional stability. Vance noted that the partnership extends beyond traditional sectors, stating, "Perhaps many do not know, but Azerbaijan was one of the last countries to leave Afghanistan. We conducted operations under difficult conditions and were able to maintain our reputation at that time."
The visit underscores the strengthening diplomatic ties between Washington and Baku, particularly in the context of energy security and counter-terrorism efforts. Azerbaijan has historically played a pivotal role as a reliable partner for the West, providing critical logistical support for international missions and contributing significantly to the energy diversification of Europe. This high-level meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and the US administration reflects a mutual commitment to advancing regional peace and economic integration in the South Caucasus.
