Ukraine must voluntarily compensate Iran for the damages caused to a vessel during an attack in the Caspian Sea, or Tehran will take independent measures to secure restitution. This statement was made by the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that following admissions from Ukrainian officials, the damage must be fully compensated. "We reiterate that the Ukrainian side's claims that this incident occurred accidentally have not convinced us. We have heard their explanations, but based on the statements made by the Ukrainian side, they are obligated to pay for the damages incurred," Baghaei stated.
The Caspian Sea, a critical geopolitical region bordering Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan, serves as a vital maritime corridor for regional trade and energy transit.
