Law enforcement authorities in Azerbaijan have conducted a successful operation against the illegal drug trade in the Balakan region.
According to the regional group of the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the operation was reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM.
Authorities confirmed that 29-year-old Elmar Ganjaliyev was detained on suspicion of cultivating drug-containing plants. During the search, police discovered 169 cannabis bushes planted within a cornfield in the district, alongside more than 21 kilograms of processed narcotics.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and the court has ordered a pre-trial detention measure for Ganjaliyev. The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to conduct regular operations across Azerbaijan to combat drug trafficking and illegal cultivation, which remain key priorities for maintaining public safety and order in the country.
