Azerbaijan’s non-oil and non-gas exports, excluding non-monetary gold, rose 17.6% year-on-year to $2.8 billion in January-August this year.
Operative Information Center-OMM reported this, citing the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication.
In August alone, the value of the country’s non-oil and non-gas exports reached $350.8 million, up 13% from the same month last year.
During the reporting period, food exports totaled $80.7 million, while non-food exports, excluding non-monetary gold, increased 11.4% to $251.1 million.
According to the report, sugar exports increased 2.3-fold during the reporting period. Exports of cotton yarn rose 62.2%, aluminum and related products 42.8%, vegetable and animal fats and oils 30.2%, ferrous metals and related products 20.5%, cotton fiber 17.8%, fruit and vegetables 13.7%, and tea 12.1%.
Agricultural exports rose 19.2% during the year to $732 million. The value of agro-industrial exports increased 22.1% to $255.8 million, while combined agricultural and agro-industrial exports grew 19.9% to $987.8 million.
The figures reflect Azerbaijan’s efforts to diversify exports beyond the oil and gas sector by expanding agricultural production, processing capacity and shipments of value-added industrial goods. Non-oil exports are a key indicator of the development of the country’s broader production base and export markets.
