Ookla, a global leader in broadband and mobile network testing, has released its latest "Speedtest Global Index" report for July, highlighting significant advancements in Azerbaijan's digital infrastructure.
According to data provided by the Information and Communication Technologies Agency (ICTA) to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the median speed for fixed broadband internet in Azerbaijan reached 92.52 Mbps, while mobile internet median speeds hit 99.53 Mbps. Year-on-year, fixed broadband speeds increased by 9.43 Mbps (11.35 percent), and mobile internet speeds saw a substantial rise of 24.96 Mbps (33.47 percent).
The report also detailed performance metrics for the capital, Baku. In July, the median speed for fixed broadband in Baku was recorded at 92.65 Mbps, while mobile internet speeds reached 121.54 Mbps. Compared to the previous year, the capital experienced a growth of 9.28 Mbps (11.13 percent) in fixed broadband and 29.36 Mbps (31.85 percent) in mobile internet connectivity.
This upward trend reflects the ongoing digital transformation in Azerbaijan, driven by an increasing demand for electronic services, remote work capabilities, and digital education. These improvements underscore the country's commitment to enhancing its telecommunications infrastructure and strengthening its standing in global internet performance rankings.
