Prime Minister Ali Asadov has extended his congratulations to brotherly nations Turkiye and Uzbekistan on their historic achievement of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, speaking at a meeting of heads of government and vice presidents of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Ali Asadov noted that on March 31, the Turkish national team secured its place in the upcoming World Cup—to be hosted by US President Donald Trump's administration in the United States, Mexico, and Canada—following a 1-0 victory over Kosovo. This marks Turkiye's return to the global tournament after a 24-year hiatus.

"This magnificent victory has become a source of special joy for all of us. We transition our heartfelt congratulations to brotherly Turkiye on this historic occasion. At the same time, it is a matter of great pride and joy that Uzbekistan has qualified for the World Cup for the first time in its history. Brotherly Uzbekistan achieved this historic milestone in June last year," the Prime Minister stated.

He emphasized that both successes should be viewed as a triumph for the entire Turkic world, adding: "These victories clearly reflect the rise of the Turkic peoples in all fields of endeavor."

The Organization of Turkic States, formerly known as the Turkic Council, serves as an intergovernmental organization comprising Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye, and Uzbekistan, with Hungary and Turkmenistan as observers. The organization aims to promote comprehensive cooperation among Turkic-speaking states, covering sectors from economy and politics to culture and sports, fostering a unified regional identity and shared strategic interests.
