ABŞ Hörmüz boğazında İran gəmilərini məhv etdi - CENTCOM

The United States military has destroyed several Iranian military vessels near the Strait of Hormuz as part of the ongoing "Project Freedom" operation, according to reports from the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that CENTCOM deployed Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk and AH-64 Apache helicopters to neutralize small Iranian craft that were posing a threat to commercial shipping lanes. US President Donald Trump later confirmed that a total of seven Iranian vessels were destroyed during the engagement. This follows earlier reports citing CENTCOM officials which indicated that the military action was a response to Iranian provocations against U.S. naval forces and protected merchant ships on May 4.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's oil consumption passes daily. Tensions in the region have frequently escalated due to maritime incidents involving Iranian forces and international naval coalitions. "Project Freedom" represents a strategic initiative aimed at ensuring the safety of international navigation and the unhindered flow of global commerce in these contested waters, reflecting the United States' commitment to maritime security in the Middle East.
