A total of 53 citizens of Azerbaijan were evacuated from Iran through the Astara border checkpoint between February 28 and March 1, according to official reports.
The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Report, noted that the evacuation process took place from 08:00 on February 28 until 14:00 on March 1. In addition to Azerbaijani nationals, the safe passage of several foreign citizens from Iran into Azerbaijan was ensured. This included 18 citizens of Saudi Arabia, five from Tajikistan, four from Jordan, three from Qatar, and one from Italy.
Furthermore, authorities are expecting the evacuation of more than 10 Chinese citizens from Iran to Azerbaijan, with three individuals having already completed their crossing. The Astara border checkpoint, located on the frontier between Azerbaijan and Iran, serves as a vital transit point for international travelers and cargo, playing a strategic role in regional logistics and emergency evacuation protocols during periods of heightened border monitoring.
