The pre-trial detention period for Musa Shakiliyev, the former head of the Gakh District Executive Authority, has been extended by six months. Shakiliyev was originally detained following a special operation conducted by the State Security Service (SSS) at the Gakh District Executive Authority.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the decision was made at the Sabail District Court based on a motion filed by the investigative body.

The State Security Service (SSS) launched an operation at the Gakh District Executive Authority in June 2025, which resulted in the arrest of the then-head of the district, Musa Shakiliyev. He is accused of embezzling a particularly large amount of state property by abusing his official position. Following his arrest on June 21, 2025, the Sabail District Court initially imposed a four-month pre-trial detention, which has since been extended on multiple occasions as the investigation continues.

In accordance with a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on June 21, 2025, Musa Shaban oglu Shakiliyev was dismissed from his position as the head of the Gakh District Executive Authority. This case is part of a broader, ongoing anti-corruption campaign in Azerbaijan, aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability within local executive bodies across the country.
