Vatikan "Sülh Şurası"na qoşulmayacaq

The Vatican will not join the "Peace Council" initiative led by the United States.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin announced the decision, clarifying the Holy See's stance on the new platform. The Cardinal noted that the decision is rooted in the specific diplomatic nature of the Vatican and its commitment to existing international frameworks.

"The Vatican, due to its unique nature, will not participate in the 'Peace Council'... Our position is that issues regarding the resolution of crises at the international level should primarily be addressed through the UN. This is one of the fundamental points we insist upon," Parolin stated.

The "Peace Council" is a diplomatic initiative recently proposed by the administration of US President Donald Trump, aimed at creating a new multilateral platform to address global conflicts and security challenges. The initiative seeks to bring together key international stakeholders to mediate ongoing regional disputes and promote stability through direct dialogue outside of traditional bureaucratic structures.

The Vatican's refusal highlights a preference for established multilateralism, specifically the United Nations, which the Holy See views as the primary legitimate forum for international mediation. Historically, the Vatican has maintained a policy of neutrality and "soft power" diplomacy, often acting as an independent mediator in global conflicts while advocating for the strengthening of international law and collective security through the UN system.
