On June 29, the "Turkic World Week" commenced in Baku, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this week-long series of scientific and cultural events is being held in accordance with the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated October 22, 2025, titled "On the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress."

The "Turkic World Week," which will continue until July 3, is organized jointly by the Ministry of Culture, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), and the Ministry of Science and Education. The event is supported by key partners, including the Organization of Turkic States, TURKSOY, Baku State University, the Turkic Academy, and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.

The First Turkological Congress, held in Baku in 1926, remains a landmark event in the history of Turkic studies. It played a pivotal role in the standardization of alphabets and the development of linguistic research across the Turkic-speaking world. By commemorating this centenary, Azerbaijan continues to emphasize its commitment to strengthening cultural and scientific ties among Turkic nations, fostering deeper cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.
