The United States intends to assist Azerbaijan in space industry cooperation and investments in digital infrastructure, including the establishment of artificial intelligence (AI) data processing centers with private sector participation. This initiative aims to strengthen the technological capabilities of Azerbaijan and foster a robust digital economy in the region.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, these objectives are outlined in the Strategic Partnership Charter signed on February 10 by President Ilham Aliyev and US Vice President JD Vance. The document provides for the expansion of mutual cooperation in developing AI partnerships, supporting space sector projects, and attracting significant investments into the digital ecosystem.
Furthermore, based on international best practices, Baku and Washington plan to consider the creation of specialized support mechanisms. These include joint funding instruments for Research and Development (R&D), innovation "bridges," and sectoral initiatives in the fields of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Such steps are expected to facilitate the attraction of private venture capital, mitigate risks during early stages of technological development, and accelerate the commercialization of new technologies.
This strategic cooperation marks a significant milestone in bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, reflecting a shared commitment to technological modernization. By integrating advanced AI solutions and space industry expertise, Azerbaijan continues to position itself as a central technological hub in the South Caucasus, aligning its national digital strategy with global standards and enhancing its competitive edge in the fourth industrial revolution.
