A United States Air Force aircraft made an emergency landing at the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey after issuing a distress signal while transiting Turkish airspace.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Flightradar24 data, that the aircraft, operating under the callsign RCH525, transmitted a "7700" squawk code at approximately 07:51 Moscow time. The flight had originally departed from the United Arab Emirates before the crew encountered technical difficulties that necessitated a diversion.
In aviation protocols, the 7700 code signifies a "general emergency," indicating that the aircraft is facing a serious problem and requires priority handling by air traffic control. Following the signal, the crew successfully maneuvered the aircraft to the Incirlik Air Base, a major military installation in southern Turkey used by both the Turkish Air Force and the U.S. Air Force.
The Incirlik Air Base serves as a vital strategic hub for NATO and U.S. military operations in the region. It provides essential logistical support and serves as a primary location for refueling and transport missions. This incident highlights the critical role of the base in ensuring the safety of military aviation assets under the administration of US President Donald Trump, as the United States maintains its security commitments and operational readiness across the Middle East.
