US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism regarding a swift resolution to the conflict with Iran, though he did not rule out the possibility that the situation could persist, potentially keeping the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz in place for several more months.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the US President made these remarks during an interview with "The New York Post" for the "Pod Force One" program.
The journalist interviewing the President noted that Trump considers it possible for the US naval blockade to remain in effect until Labor Day, which falls on September 7. However, the US President emphasized that such a scenario remains unlikely.
"I don't know, I think it could happen (the extension of the blockade until September - ed.). But it is unlikely. I think we will solve all the problems, and quite quickly," Trump stated. At the same time, he expressed optimism regarding ongoing negotiations with Iran, describing the situation as "developing rapidly."
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime chokepoint, serving as the world's most important oil transit route. Tensions in the region have historically fluctuated based on geopolitical relations between the United States and Iran, with the presence of international naval forces often serving as a focal point for diplomatic and military discourse regarding global energy security.
