The venue for the Azerbaijan Premier League match between Sumqayit and Neftchi has been changed.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the press service of Sumqayit FC released an official statement regarding the relocation.
"Due to ongoing maintenance work on the turf at the Mehdi Huseynzade Stadium, the opening round match of the Azerbaijan Premier League between Sumqayit and Neftchi will now take place at the SOCAR Polymer Arena," the statement read.
The Azerbaijan Premier League is the top tier of professional football in Azerbaijan, organized by the Professional Football League (PFL). The league serves as the primary platform for clubs to compete for national titles and qualification spots in UEFA club competitions. The Mehdi Huseynzade Stadium, named after the Azerbaijani national hero, is a significant sports facility in Sumqayit, often undergoing periodic pitch renovations to meet international standards for professional play.
